What Skin Treatments Can I Get in the Summer?
/While there is warmth and sunshine all year long in Hawaii, there is a higher chance of sun damage in the summer because of the sun’s closer proximity to Earth. Because of its location on the equator, Hawaii’s UV index is higher than any other location in the US. It averages around 7 in the winter and 11+ in the summer (1).
Although winter can be a better time of year for treatment because of its lower UV exposure, there are still many skin treatments and products that nourish your skin to health and radiance without significant downtime. Here are our top recommendations on skin treatments to get in the summer.
Ditch the downtime with PRX-T33
The PRX-T33, otherwise known as BioRevitalization peel, is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment similar to a chemical peel but with no downtime.
It promotes natural skin regeneration in a painless and gentle way, with no photosensitivity, no peeling or flaking, and no down time. This skin treatment can give dramatic improvement in texture and laxity of the skin, rejuvenate, and reveal healthier, younger looking skin.
The best part about this treatment for Hawaii residents is that you can go in the ocean and sun (wearing sun protection of course) even just hours after treatment. Many of our guests who are avid swimmers, work outdoors, or are not willing to undergo downtime opt for the PRX-T33 treatment.
Get silky smooth skin before a summer event with Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is the perfect skin treatment for summer, especially before an event such as weddings, photoshoots, and other special occasions. It is a treatment that exfoliates dead skin and gets rid of buildup and vellus hairs (peach fuzz) that can often be noticeable in the sunlight.
Dermaplaning is a painless and quick treatment with immediate results and no downtime. After a dermaplaning treatment, you will experience smoother skin texture, even tone, and softening of fine lines. Dermaplaning also helps to promote deeper product penetration, boosting the effects of skincare products while making the skin look and feel smoother.
Dermaplaning is achieved by using a sterile scalpel held at a 45 degree angle and glided along the skin to remove dead skin and peach fuzz. We then further exfoliate with a gommage enzyme treatment. Next we infuse beautiful medical grade serums into the skin and finish our dermaplaning treatments by applying a nourishing antioxidant cream and tinted mineral sunscreen.
Skin Tip: Add dermaplaning to any of your facial treatments such as DiamondGlow, chemical peels, and facials to get that extra exfoliation!

We recommend getting one once a month for best results.
Practice Sun-safety
The best thing you can do for your skin in the summer is to be sun-safe!
Studies show that an estimated 90 percent of skin aging is caused by the sun. (2) People who use sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher daily show 24% less skin aging than those who do not use sunscreen daily. (3)
Protect your skin with a high quality sunscreen with an SPF rating of 30 or higher. This will prevent risk of skin cancer and other skin related conditions. It will also prevent premature aging, otherwise known as photoaging.
Other ways to practice sun-safety include: wearing a sun protective hat and clothing, staying out of direct sunlight (especially in peak UV hours of the day), and reapply, reapply, reapply!

“Can I get treatments like chemical peels or microneedling in the summer?”
We often get asked the question if it is okay to do certain skin treatments in the summer such as microneedling, lasers, and chemical peels. The answer is, “YES!” Any time of the year is a great time to get skin treatments.
However, certain treatments like these can require several days to a week of downtime in which staying out of the sun is absolutely necessary.
Hello “hot girl summer”
By protecting your skin from the sun and getting regular treatments that not only exfoliate the skin but also nourish it, you’re on your way to your best hot girl (or any pronoun!) summer. Regardless of treatment, we always recommend practicing sun-safety by wearing sun protective clothing, sunscreen with 30+ SPF, and staying out of the sun during peak UV times between 10 am and 4 pm.
