What is Jeuveau?
Jeuveau® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used in adults for a short period of time (temporary) to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). It basically stops your nerves from telling your facial muscles to flex, which in turn smooths wrinkles!
How Does Jeuveau™ Work?
Jeuveau™ is made from the botulinum toxin type A, the same as the other neurotoxins, and it basically works the same. Jeuveau™ is an acetylcholine release inhibitor and neuromuscular blocking agent. When injected into a muscle, the botulinum toxin blocks the nerve messages sent from the muscle to the brain. The brain never receives the message to contract the muscle, so the muscle stays at rest.
Wrinkles form over time with repeated muscle movements from expressions such as frowning, squinting, or showing surprise. As our skin thins and loses elasticity, wrinkles begin to form on the surface of the skin. When Jeuveau is injected into the muscles that create these forehead lines, it temporarily stops the muscles from contracting and “voila!”- wrinkles are stopped from forming.
How does Juveau compare to Botox?
Juveau and Botox are basically the same thing. They are made out of the same ingredient, botulinum toxin type A, and both work by blocking the nerve messages sent from muscles to the brain, keeping the muscles relaxed. The only real comparison between the two neurotoxins is that Juveau is priced 20-30% lower than Botox.
