Happy New Year: A Letter from Our Founder

Happy New Year,

2022 has quickly come and gone. For Island Dermatology and Koru Medical Spa it was a year of recovery, growth, and honor. All of which was achieved because of our wonderful VIP members, guests, patients, community, and Island Dermatology’s and Koru’s caring staff. 

Coming out of the COVID pandemic increased resiliency, patience, and faith within our businesses. By working together we overcame! In fact, we more than overcame.

Koru Medical Spa was voted #1 Face & Body Treatment in West Hawaii for 2022, and Central Pacific Bank and the YWCA awarded me the WE By Rising Tide women’s entrepreneurial grant.  We added new services and doubled our staff to enhance the experience for our patients, VIP Members, and Guests. Because of your faithful patronage, we were able to give significantly through our Koru Cares program to our favorite local charities! 

Here’s a recap of everything Koru Medical Spa accomplished this year:

  • Koru was awarded First Place in #1 Best Facial & Body Treatment in West Hawaii.

  • Koru Cares Donated about $10,000 to local charities.

  • We performed 355 more services than last year.

  • We added 5 more treatments including PRX, PDO Threads and PHYSIQ Body.

  • 6 new positions were added to our team.

  • Dr. Shellie won a spot in the WE by Rising Tide Business scholarship program.

  • Our doctors and physicians attended 2 conferences on the mainland to up-skill and gain more knowledge.

  • We welcomed 59 new VIP members to our Koru Ohana this year!
